This year we are celebrating Carnival as it is celebrated in Aragon, in the Spanish Pyrenees. Here at Barton we're adopting their tradition this Friday 12th of February. We have invited the children to come in fancy dress and to bring in a home made rattle, or anything that makes noise. We've also asked them to bring in party food to share.

Children in Aragon dress up and go door to door 'clamouring' for food. They then gather and celebrate the beginning of Lent by eating and partying. Instead of going door to door, we're going to invite each class to 'parade' in front of the rest of the school and the members of staff, making noise to 'clamour' for their food. Afterwards the whole school will celebrate together, sharing the food and dancing.

The children in our partner schools in Stoke and Trent will be celebrating this Aragonite tradition as well, while the children in our partner schools in Aragon will be trying out our Pancake Day, led by Mrs Andjelic who will be with them over the half term.

We hope all the children will enjoy participating!
